Former Zimbabwe allrounder Guy Whittall received a rude awakening this week when he discovered a massive 2.4 metre crocodile which had spent the previous evening hiding under his bed.

The crocodile had crept into the Hunami Lodge in the Save Conservancy in the Zimbabwean Lowveld and had spent the entire night just centimetres beneath an oblivious Whittall.

Whittall, who is a operations director at the lodge, said the most concerning thing about the whole episode was the fact that he had sat on the edge of his bed that morning, barefoot, totally oblivious to the 150kg reptile lying mere centimetres from his dangling feet.

He only became aware of the problematic crocodile when he was interrupted whilse having breakfast in the kitchen and heard the petrified screams of the cleaning maid.

Assisted by co-workers, Whittall then removed the crocodile from the bedroom and relocated it back into Hunami's nearby dam.

Whittall retired at the end of the 2003 Cricket World Cup to focus on his game ranching and hunting business.
