Broad: Trott has our full support

Stuart Broad has told Sky Sports of England's "heartbreak" over losing Jonathan Trott, stating the whole of the Ashes squad is behind him.

On Monday, the England camp confirmed Trott had left the Ashes tour due to a stress-related illness. Trott, who spoke of the priority to take a break from cricket, announced the decision a day after Australia sealed a 381-run win over England in the first Test in Brisbane.

Former England players Steve Harmison and Marcus Trescothick have already offered their backing to the batsman, while Broad indicated the whole changing room supports Trott.

"It's heartbreaking to lose Trotty. He's been an integral part of the side for the last four or five years. He gave us a lot of solidity at the number three spot," Broad told Sky Sports.

"But the most important thing for him at the moment is that he knows he's got the support of the changing room. He's played 49 Tests, we're all behind him and he's got time at home and a bit of privacy to get himself right."

The first Test was marred by the sledging debacle, before David Warner upset Alistair Cook's side by publically stating Trott's batting at the Gabba was "weak." Australia captain Michael Clarke has since been fined for his on-field comments to James Anderson.

While Broad believes no line had been crossed during play, he admitted the England team's reluctance to comment on their opposition off the field.

"On the field I don't think a line has been crossed. We grow up and train ourselves to expect that. A few mistakes have been made off the field," Broad said.

"We, as England players, pride ourselves on not commenting about the opposition because you never know what's going on in an opposition changing room or their lives, so we tend to stay away from that."
