Stuart Broad has confirmed that he will miss the limited-overs internationals with Sri Lanka because of the tendonitis in his knee which troubled him throughout the latter stages of the West Indies one-day tour and England's failed World Twenty20 campaign in the Caribbean.

He will miss the one-off NatWest T20I against Sri Lanka on May 20 and the five Royal London ODIs which follow.

Broad hopes to make his first appearance of the season in Nottinghamshire's LV= County Championship match against Durham at Trent Bridge on May 25 as well as Sussex at Hove before playing for England, subject to form and fitness, in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Lord's on June 12.

"I'm running this week and I'm bowling next week," said Broad at a Royal London function in London. "I've had a month without bowling the ball now. You've got to build up gradually to make sure I'm 100% ready. We've got seven back-to-back Test matches and that's my aim; I'm not going to make the one-day series. Hopefully I'll play the seven back-to-back Test matches and then the one-day series against India."
