Flintoff considering offers from Australia

Andrew Flintoff has revealed that he could continue his cricketing comeback in Australia's T20 Big Bash.

Flintoff, who initially retired from cricket in 2010, returned to play for Lancashire in this season's T20 Blast. And, despite only making three appearances in the competition, the former England all-rounder said he is ready to consider offers from abroad.

"I've had offers to play in the Big Bash but I'm going to sit down and talk with my family," Flintoff told the BBC. "I've never been to Australia and played - apart from that series we don't speak about [the 2006-7 Ashes whitewash] - so I'd love to do that.

"If there's an opportunity there, why not? It's one of the things I've wanted to do, I was about to sign for Queensland in 2009 when I retired."

Flintoff played just three times for Lancashire in the T20 Blast this season but made a standout performance as they narrowly lost to the Birmingham Bears in Saturday's final. The 36-year-old dismissed England batsman Ian Bell with his first ball and scored a quickfire 20 off eight balls as Lancashire lost by just four runs.

"I always dreamt I'd play again but realistically didn't think it was possible," Flintoff added. "I had the knee surgeon saying you can't run again and that was like a red rag to a bull.

"I can bowl better than this, I can get quicker. I'm getting fitter all the time - it's been a real effort on my part - and I reckon if I can have a pre-season next year, be around the team a bit more I think I can contribute and win something for Lancashire. It's a burning desire of mine."
