England don't have momentum - Trott

Jonathan Trott knows his century will count for nothing when England step onto the field at the Adelaide Oval on Friday.

Trott's second-wicket partnership of 329 with Alastair Cook helped salvage a draw for England after a poor start at the Gabba, as England left Brisbane on a high, but Trott is adamant his side do not feel like they have the momentum.

"Obviously we went to Brisbane to win the game and we weren't able to do that," Trott said. "So I wouldn't say there is any advantage on either side, it's still nil-nil and we come to Adelaide with a determination and real energy to hopefully go one-nil up in the series. And that is all we are thinking about.

"We are not thinking about what has happened in the past or what has happened in the last innings or anything like that - that is finished as far as we are concerned as a team, and we're looking forward to Friday."

Trott made his Ashes debut at The Oval last year, where he made a century in his only other Ashes appearance, but he was not taking anything for granted ahead of Friday's second Test.

"I've been pretty fortunate to do pretty well," he said. "But individually and as a team, things can change pretty quickly."
