Collingwood 'very disappointed' to lose captaincy

England team director Andy Flower has revealed Paul Collingwood is "very disappointed" to have been replaced as Twenty20 captain by Stuart Broad.
Broad was confirmed as England's new leader in the shortest form of the game on Thursday, with Alastair Cook taking over from Andrew Strauss in the 50-over format. Strauss has retired from all forms of one-day cricket to concentrate on England's Test team.
Collingwood was the man to lead England to World Twenty20 glory last year, and Flower confessed the decision to replace the allrounder was not an easy conversation to hold.
"He's very disappointed, as you would expect," Flower said in Thursday's press conference. "He's been a very successful Twenty20 captain for us, and he's been as outstanding member of the England side for a long time.
"He continues as a player but we believe it's time to move on, and this next generation of young England leaders behind Andrew Strauss; we believe their development and what they can bring to English cricket in the medium-to-long-term is an important aspect of this decision.
"I don't think any country has ever had three captains for the three forms of the game. So it's uncharted territory. But it is also an exciting time."
Despite his obvious disappointment, Collingwood stayed professional to beckon in the new era under Broad.
Collingwood said: "It's been a privilege to captain my country and I will look back fondly on my time as Twenty20 skipper. The highlight of my time as captain is clearly last year's World Twenty20 title but there have been many achievements to be proud of."
