Pooley slides to third in rainy Copenhagen

Defending champion Emma Pooley was forced to settle for third place behind winner Judith Arndt of Germany in the Road World Championships time trial.
Britain's Pooley failed to repeat her 2010 heroics after struggling in the wet conditions, recording a time of 37:31.51, 24.13 seconds slower than Arndt. New Zealand's Linda Villumsen claimed the silver medal in Copenhagen.
Clara Hughes of Canada led the field for much of the day, having completed the circuit early on, when the track was dry.
She was eventually toppled by Arndt, who mastered the sodden surface to win for the first time after silver medals in 2003, 2004 and 2010. "This has been a goal for me a very long time. I've had silver and bronze a few times, and now finally gold," Arndt said.
Bradley Wiggins and David Millar will compete for Great Britain during Wednesday's men's time trial.
