Cavendish to join Team Sky

Mark Cavendish has ended months of speculation surrounding his future after confirming he will join Team Sky next season.
The world champion, who also won the green jersey at this year's Tour de France, will join British team-mate Bradley Wiggins, who helped steer him to the rainbow jersey in Denmark last month.
Cavendish has been heavily linked with the British team since it was confirmed that his HTC Highroad team would be disbanded, but Belgian team Quick Step had also reportedly been in talks with the rider.
However, Cavendish has confirmed that he will join the British set-up next season.
"I've made my decision and I'm going to join Team Sky next year, and I'm really excited about that," Cavendish told Sky Sports News. "Most of the British riders I've grown up with and I know it's a great set-up."
"Obviously I'm very happy," British Cycling's performance director Dave Brailsford said. "He is a British world road champion: who would have thought a year and a half into the Team Sky project that we would have the rainbow jersey in the team going into our third season?"
