Defiant Armstrong tweets yellow jersey photo

Lance Armstrong remains defiant in the face of controversy after posting a provocative photograph on his Twitter page.

Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles last month after he was accused of running the "most sophisticated, professionalised and successful doping programme the sport has ever seen" during his time at the US Postal Service team.

The 41-year-old, who has been banned from the sport for life, shared a photograph of himself posing with his framed yellow jerseys on the social networking site. Below the heading, "Back in Austin and just layin' around…", Armstrong is pictured lounging on his sofa below the seven frames featuring his now discredited prize jerseys.

However, it emerged on Sunday that Armstrong has resigned from the board of his Livestrong foundation, the charity he created 15 years ago after surviving his battle with testicular cancer.

Armstrong stepped down as chairman last month in a bid to "spare the foundation of any negative effects as a result of controversy surrounding [his] cycling career".

Spokeswoman Katherine McLane confirmed that Armstrong had further distanced himself from the foundation in a bid to protect it from his high-profile fall from grace.

"Lance remains the creator and inspiration of the Livestrong foundation and for its mission - providing free financial, practical and emotional support services for cancer survivors and their families," McLane said.
