Chris Froome clinched his first tour success when coming home in the pack to secure victory in the Tour of Oman.

The Team Sky rider took on the leader's red jersey on stage four and reinforced his position when reeling in Alberto Contador before sprinting away to win stage five.

Froome took a 27-second lead into the final stage and the 2012 Tour de France runner-up help firm to clinch the win.

Nacer Bouhanni won the final stage into Matrah Corniche, holding off Matt Goss and Taylor Phinney in a sprint finish, but it was Froome celebrating following his superb all-round effort.

Contador took second place overall, with another Tour de France winner - Cadel Evans - completing the podium 12 seconds further back.
