Sir Chris Hoy set to retire

Sir Chris Hoy, the most successful British Olympian of all-time, will hold a press conference on Thursday where he is expected to announce his retirement.

The 37-year-old Scot stormed to two gold medals at London 2012 and became a six-time track cyclist champion, becoming the most successful Olympian in his field. Hoy was also the first Briton in a century to claim three golds at a single Olympic Games following a fabulous campaign in Beijing 2008.

Hoy is set to call it a day in his home city of Edinburgh, and has reportedly been contemplating his future for some time. It is not yet known whether he will retire with immediate effect ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Hoy claimed his maiden gold medal at the 2004 Games in Athens, and has won the World Championships 11 times, also taking eight silver and six bronze medals during the competition.
