Froome caps brilliant year with Velo d'Or

Chris Froome has claimed another title in what has been a terrific year for the Tour de France champion, having been named winner of the Velo d'Or as the best rider of 2013.
Froome proved the most popular choice as top rider, seeing off the likes of Giro d'Italia winner Vincenzo Nibali as well as world No. 1 Joaquim Rodriguez in a poll of cycling journalists.
The Brit has enjoyed a prosperous year in the saddle; as well as winning cycling's most prestigious race, Froome was also victorious in the Criterium du Dauphine, Tour of Oman and the Tour de Romandie.
Le Tour runner-up Nairo Quintana, who also finished the race as leading climber, was named best young rider and picked up the Velo d'Or Espoir award.
Froome becomes the second successive Brit to be named as Velo d'Or winner after Sir Bradley Wiggins' triumph in 2012.
