Di Luca handed life ban after third doping offence
Former Giro D'Italia winner Danilo Di Luca has been given a life ban from cycling following a third career doping offence.
The 37-year-old tested positive for blood booster EPO in April, just five days before the 2013 edition of the Giro.
Di Luca had previously served a 15-month ban following a positive test for CERA during the 2009 Giro, while the Italian had also completed a three-month suspension shortly after winning the event in 2007 for visiting a banned physician.
The Italian Olympic Committee's anti-doping court issued the decision on Thursday. The rider was sacked by the Vini Fantini-Selle Italia squad shortly after his positive test in April.
