Froome signs new deal at Team Sky

Tour de France winner Chris Froome has extended his contract at Team Sky as one of ten riders to sign new deals with the team.

Froome, who joined in 2010 and became the second British champion at the Tour de France by following in the footsteps of Sir Bradley Wiggins, said: "This has been an incredible year for me and I'm delighted to finish it off by signing a new contract with Team Sky.

"I've been with this team since the start and I know this is the right place for me to continue to grow." Froome triumphed at cycling's grandest tour in July, and added: "It's impossible to win races without the right team beside you so I'd like to thank everyone at the team for their continued support."

Spanish climber Mikel Nieve has joined Team Sky after departing the now defunct Euskaltel-Euskadi team, and takes the place of Rigoberto Uran.

Ian Stannard, David Lopez, Luke Rowe, Salvatore Puccio, Xabier Zandio, Danny Pate, Sergio Henao, Chris Sutton and Peter Kennaugh have also signed new deals with the team.
