Sir Bradley Wiggins keeps his yellow jersey for the final day of the Tour of California after finishing safely in the peloton in stage seven.

Wiggins, seeking his first win since last year's Tour of Britain, held on to his 30-second lead over nearest rival Rohan Dennis after negotiating the difficult leg on Saturday - won in a sprint finish by Peter Sagan.

Embarrassment for Teruel

  • If you're going to celebrate victory, you should probably make sure you've actually finished first. Spanish cyclist Eloy Teruel raised his arms in jubilation - only to soon realise there was still a lap to go. He finished in 56th. Click here to see the video.

"It was pretty fast on the descent," Wiggins said. "I was thinking 'a puncture now and it could be over', so I couldn't relax until I'd crossed that line, especially with the speed we were going.

"We'll continue to do the same thing and keep an eye on [Dennis], as we've been doing every day. If we do that, I'm sure we'll be alright."

The eighth and final stage in Thousand Oaks comprises of three laps of a circuit which features a sharp climb followed by a fast and technical descent before a sprint finish.
