Laura Trott is desperate to win the only gold medal missing from her collection when she takes to the track at this year's Commonwealth Games.

The double Olympic champion will represent Team England at the Games in Glasgow - which get underway on July 23 - and is set to face the riders who she won team pursuit gold with in Colombia at the World Championships earlier this year: Dani King, Joanna Rowsell, Elinor Barker and Katie Archibald, in the individual pursuit on Friday.

"The 'Commies' may often be referred to as the 'Friendly Games' but I can assure you that I will be going for gold with everything I have when I come up against the best the Commonwealth has to offer over the next fortnight, and that includes my own Team GB team-mates," Trott wrote in her column with The Telegraph.

"The girls with whom I won world gold in the team pursuit in Colombia this year are now my rivals."

Trott was only 18 years old when she first competed at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, but after admitting she was "too young to really challenge the older girls", she now believes she is in great shape to make an impact.

"The times have been coming down and I feel in good form," Trott said. "Friday is one of my best chances in the sense that the individual pursuit is the most predictable, the most controllable of the four events in which I am entered.

"I have got a pretty good idea of what I will need to do and I will need to register a personal best ... desperately want that missing gold."
