Froome's chances wilting after stage nine
Chris Froome's hopes of winning the Tour of Spain took a hit during Sunday's mountainous ninth stage.
Nairo Quintana claimed the lead, but Froome lost time on the final climb to fall to fifth - 28 seconds back from Quintana.
The Team sky rider had started the stage 20 seconds behind then leader Alejandro Valverde, but both lost time to Quintana, Alberto Contador and Joaquim Rodriguez on the category-one climb to the Aramon Valdelinares summit finish.
Quintana leads Contador by three seconds, with Valverde another five back.
The aptly named Winner Anacona claimed victory in the ninth stage to move within nine seconds of the lead.
