Exhausted Wiggins set for rest after gruelling Tour

Bradley Wiggins has been forced to adjust his schedule after admitting the Tour de France has taken its toll on his body.
After a disappointing 24th-place finish, the Team Sky rider has withdrawn from both the World Championships in Australia and the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in order to have a break after finishing the season at the Tour of Britain in September.
"Half the reason I wasn't that good here was because I've done too much already," Wiggins said in The Guardian. "I've pulled out of the Commonwealth Games, and I'm not going to do the World Championships, either. I need a proper break.
"The Tour of Britain will be my only other race this year, then I'll have a proper break and start building towards next year. I've already thought about next year. We know what we have to do, and what we're going to do."
Meanwhile, Wiggins' team-mate Geraint Thomas confirmed he would be heading to India for the Commonwealths in October. Thomas, representing Wales, would have gone head-to-head with England's Wiggins, but could still take on Garmin's David Millar, who will be representing Scotland.
"I'm doing the road race and time trial in Delhi," he said. "It's only every four years we get to do them, and it's always good to ride for Wales. I'm not riding any track events because they clash with the world championships, and I want to ride there, if selected."
