Brilliant Chisnall sets up final with Taylor

Dave Chisnall continued his remarkable run at the World Grand Prix with a 5-2 victory over Justin Pipe to reach his first ever major PDC final, where he will face Phil Taylor after the 'Power' cruised past James Wade with a 5-1 win.

Chisnall, who knocked out defending champion Michael van Gerwen in Friday's quarter-final, twice came from a set behind against Pipe before eventually running away with the tie at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin.

Pipe took the opening set, which included a 92 finish to break throw, before Chisnall responded in the second with a 101 checkout to help level proceedings.

The match continued to shift power as Pipe moved ahead for a second time, but in truth Chisnall was never far behind. An unusual 83 checkout consisting of single three and two double tops provided Chisnall with a chance to level in the fourth set, which he wasted no time in taking.

Chisnall led for the first time after whitewashing his opponent in the fifth, and held his nerve to move 4-2 up when finishing double 16.

Pipe had a chance to delay the inevitable in the seventh set when Chisnall missed seven opening darts at a double, but lacklustre finishing from the Taunton thrower allowed his opponent back in it to break throw and move within a leg of the final.

Chisnall took Pipe's gift with open arms and coolly finished his 68 on double four to take the match and book his place in Sunday's final.

Taylor never broke third gear to overcome Wade, who failed to show any sign of the form he enjoyed earlier in the tournament. The 16-time world champion won the first set without reply, before doubling his lead shortly after.

Wade responded to close the gap, but Taylor edged a crucial fourth set as he punished the two-time champion for missing doubles. That seemed to kill off Wade, who could not reply as Taylor won six consecutive legs to reach the 11th World Grand Prix final of his career.
