Stephen Bunting laid a marker down to claim what would be his first BDO World Championship title in a convincing 6-1 semi-final victory over Robbie Green.

Bunting came out firing and whitewashed his opponent three-nil in the opening set with an impressive 94 three-dart average.

'The Bullet' soon moved two sets to the good, but Green responded with solid darts in the third to keep in the tie.

However, Bunting recovered from early troubles on the doubles with a marvellous 120 checkout to move two sets clear once again.

The first seed capitalised on a struggling 'Kong' to move within two sets of victory and soon completed the win, booking his place in Sunday's final with a 93.12 average.

And in that final, he will take on Alan Norris, who got the better of Jan Dekker in a 6-5 thriller. Norris trailed 4-2 and 5-4, and watched his opponent have three darts at double six. However, Norris, who had never been beyond the quarter-finals before this year, held his nerve to win 4-2 in the deciding set.

In the women's final, Lisa Ashton won her first world championship after beating top seed Deta Hedman 3-2.
