Phil Taylor strengthened his bid to make the Premier League play-offs after moving up to third with three points from his two matches in Birmingham.

'The Power' fought back to draw 6-6 with Raymond van Barneveld - who has already qualified - before returning to beat Dave Chisnall 7-2 at the NIA.

Taylor now has 17 points, one clear of Gary Anderson and Peter Wright, with two weeks of the regular season remaining. The top four will qualify for the finals at the O2 Arena on May 22.

Chisnall's defeat to Taylor removed him from the running, after he lost 7-5 earlier in the night to Robert Thornton.

Van Barneveld let a 5-3 lead against Taylor slip as he missed a chance to go top with Michael van Gerwen suffering just his second loss this season with a 7-4 defeat to Anderson.

Both men are on 20 points and a legs difference of +22, but Van Gerwen remains above his compatriot having won more legs against the throw.

Wright is still above Anderson in fourth on legs difference, after winning the final two legs to take a 6-6 draw against Adrian Lewis, who saw his play-off chances ended.
