Netherlands thrash England to win World Cup
Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld won the darts World Cup for the Netherlands as they thrashed holders England 3-0 in the final.
The English duo of Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis had hoped to lift a third successive World Cup.
However, Van Gerwen and Van Barneveld recorded 4-0 whitewashes over Taylor and Lewis respectively, with Van Gerwen sealing victory by beating Lewis 4-2 in the third singles encounter.
"To do this in the final against a country like England is fantastic. We were strong today and a real team. I'd never won this before so it's another major on the list," world champion Van Gerwen told Sky Sports.
Taylor added: "We tried everything we could but just didn't click. We got beat by the better pair."
