Delon Armitage has been released from Martin Johnson's first England camp of the season after sustaining a shoulder injury during a training session on Monday.

The Exiles fullback will now await the results of a scan to determine the severity of his injury, with his place in the London Irish squad for the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham on Saturday now in doubt.

Armitage was one of 15 players released from the squad to continue their injury rehabilitation, the majority of which were pre-planned.

Wasps quartet Danny Cipriani, Tom Rees, George Skivington and Paul Sackey, Leciester's Toby Flood and Sam Vesty, Harlequins' Jordan Turner-Hall and Will Skinner, London Irish's Topsy Ojo, Sale's Richard Wigglesworth and Brive's Andy Goode were all released as planned.

Johnson's squad will train in front of fans at Twickenham on Wednesday, and will also be without Leicester lock Ben Kay, Harlequins wing David Strettle and Gloucester No.8 Luke Narraway - all of whom reported to the camp with existing injuries. Gloucester fullback Olly Morgan did not join the squad after it was agreed that he should remain with the club to continue his rehab.

Players released from England training camp:

Danny Cipriani, Tom Rees, Paul Sackey, George Skivington (London Wasps), Toby Flood, Sam Vesty, Ben Kay (Leicester Tigers), Will Skinner, David Strettle, Jordan Turner-Hall (Harlequins), Delon Armitage, Topsy Ojo (London Irish), Andy Goode (Brive), Richard Wigglesworth (Sale) Luke Narraway (Gloucester)
