Phil Vickery has joined his front-row colleagues Andrew Sheridan and Lee Mears on the sidelines in another major blow to England's November Test campaign.

Wasps prop Vickery faces a three month rehab program after it was confirmed that his neck injury required surgery.

Sheridan has been ruled out for four months with a dislocated shoulder while Mears is sidelined with a knee injury. England manager Martin Johnson is also without flanker Tom Rees, centre Riki Flutey and fullback Delon Armitage.

Vickery's Wasps' team-mate Tim Payne is in line to deputise for Sheridan, while Leicester veteran Julian White and Bath's David Wilson shared the No.3 jersey for England's two-Test series with Argentina in the summer.

England kick off their November series against Australia at Twickenham on November 7 before Tests against New Zealand and Argentina.

"It was deemed necessary that Phil should be reviewed further by a consultant neurosurgeon and subsequently a collective decision by Phil, the consultant, Wasps medical team and England has been made this week to progress with surgery to his neck," said a Wasps statement. "This will entail a rehab period in excess of 3 months."
