- London Irish have signed young scrum-half Darren Allinson from Cardiff Blues on a two-year deal. Allinson, 22, is a former Wales youth international and has been welcomed into the fold by head coach Toby Booth.
"We are delighted that Darren will be joining us next season," Booth said. "He is an exciting young talent, his style suits London Irish and he will be a great addition. His signing also fits well with our strategy of quality not quantity and maintaining strength in depth."
- Former Springboks fly-half Bennett Howe, known widely as "Peewee", died on Thursday aged 77. Howe represented South Africa on the tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1956 and in recent years had been battling Alzheimer's Disease.
