Leicester hero Dan Hipkiss hailed the club's never-say-die spirit after his late try gave the Tigers victory over Saracens in the Guinness Premiership final at Twickenham.

Hipkiss came off the bench to score the decisive try just three minutes from time at the end of a game in which the lead changed hands seven times. And the England centre paid tribute to his teammates whose heads didn't drop despite Glen Jackson edging Saracens ahead with five minutes remaining.

"It was a fantastic game, real last-minute stuff," Hipkiss said. "We are never quite done, there's always a bit more to go. In a final it means a massive amount and credit to the boys for sticking in there."

Man of the match Jordan Crane added, "Back to back championships is special, it takes a special team and the boys who came in this year have made a huge impact. It was hard work, the boys just dug in. Any team could easily give in at three points down with three minutes to go but the way we finished the game was just incredible."

England flanker Lewis Moody played his last match for the club and said he would miss the team when he moves to Bath. And the man who will skipper his country next month was delighted with another Premiership medal.

"It was a great spectacle, a fantastic effort," he told Sky Sports. "We played them a couple of weeks ago and we weren't at the races, but each and every man fronted up today. I'm going to miss playing with these lads, it's been an absolute pleasure to be part of this club for 14 years.

"I've had 14 incredible years at this club and there will always be a special place in my heart for it. Winning it the way we did means everything to me."
