Bath Rugby's director of rugby Sir Ian McGeechan will address the club's growing crisis in the hooker department sooner rather than later.

England hooker Lee Mears is already set to miss eight weeks with a bicep injury while Pieter Dixon is between two and four weeks away from full fitness. And in their 16-13 win over Montpellier, Ross Batty limped off in the second-half with what McGeechan described as "not just a cut, but a bad gash" to his knee.

With Bath travelling to Worcester Warriors on Friday night, McGeechan has revealed he will look to rectify the crisis immediately. "It's a priority," McGeechan told the Bath Chronicle. "We will look at the issue." Mark Lilley - a hooker-come-prop - finished the game for the West Country side against Montpellier and could be in line for a start on Friday evening.

And following his man of the match performance in Sunday's victory, World Cup winner Stephen Donald has admitted he is relishing the chance to test his mettle against the best Europe has to offer in their next clash against Leinster.

"What is there not to get excited about playing the reigning champions with half the Irish team - I cannot wait for them to come to The Rec in the next round," said Donald."I love the concept of the Heineken Cup and playing against different nationalities. It is a glamorous competition.

"I am loving it and it is true what they say that there are no easy games. We all have ambitions in the Heineken Cup and we knew that if we hadn't won at the weekend we would just have been making up the numbers.

"Montpellier just kept on coming and coming in the second half and we had to hang on in the end. Learning how to win games is important and we really toughed it out. We stuffed it up in Glasgow and I think we showed we had learned from that defeat. Now it's back to some English Premiership action before we meet Leinster."
