The Brumbies have denied reports that Jake White has thrown his hat into the ring for the vacant England post.

White led the Springboks to the World Cup title in 2007 and despite having only recently taken the post at the Super Rugby side the Brumbies, appeared to entertain the idea of replacing Martin Johnson as England manager. But Brumbies chief executive Andrew Fagan has responded to the possibility of White leaving the Canberra franchise and is adamant that the 48-year-old would remain in charge.

"Whenever anyone asks him if he's interested in international jobs, he'll forever say 'yes'," Fagan said. "But he's not talking about now. He called me into his office and said 'I want to clarify - I'm 100% committed'."

"I wasn't concerned by the articles. I see it more that we've got a World Cup-winning coach so with his credentials, whenever there's a vacant job, his name will be linked to it."

White was rumoured to have included in his contract a clause that would allow him to leave if an international post came knocking, but Fagan has denied this exists maintaining that it was something White did not ask for.

With England seemingly on the verge of turning to a caretaker coach for the 2012 Six Nations, White, however, believes this would be an error on their part. "A caretaker coach is probably the soft option because that means you've got no confidence in the guy who's caretaker coach," said White. "The players need to know who's in charge from now on, he's going to be the person who's controlling the destiny of where those players are going to be in four years time.

"So the quicker they can make the decision and get the best people involved, the more direction and cohesion you're going to give the players."
