Andy Farrell believes England are spoilt for choice in terms of selection options ahead of the 2012 Six Nations.

A key part of England's interim coaching team alongside head coach Stuart Lancaster and fellow assistant Graham Rowntree, Farrell is excited by the the side's potential but is wary of striking the right balance in the 32-man Six Nations squad that will be named on January 11.

"Nobody gets a cap if they aren't ready. We've got to make sure the balance of the team is right," Farrell told BBC Sport. "It's a fresh start for everyone and some exciting players to chose from. It's a feast for us at the minute."

Farrell, who has been released from his duties as Saracens' first team coach for the duration of the Six Nations, hinted that there are still places in the squad up for grabs and that the team dynamic will take priority over any individual. "We've just got to get it right," he said. "You can't have 15 individuals out there on the field."

Lancaster, Farrell and Rowntree were handed the England reins last month on a temporary basis while the Rugby Football Union continues to search for a permanent replacement for former manager Martin Johnson who stepped down after this year's Rugby World Cup.

Lancaster is permitted to make 10 selection changes to England's 30-man World Cup squad and add two players to make it a 32-man party for the Six Nations. England will also need to replace retirees Jonny Wilkinson, Steve Thompson and Lewis Moody, plus the injured duo of Richard Wigglesworth and Andrew Sheridan meaning that the latest squad could boast 17 new faces.

"Stuart and Graham Rowntree are getting about the country and talking to a lot of people, seeing a lot of directors of rugby and a lot of rugby," Farrell said. "I am watching the games week in, week out as far as my job is concerned here at Saracens. We keep meeting up every now and again, keep chewing the fat and it is good to talk."

England begin the defence of their Six Nations title against Scotland at Murrayfield on February 4.
