Harlequins scrum-half Danny Care is reportedly set to return from the international wilderness with an England recall for this summer's tour of South Africa.

Care, 25, was dropped from the England squad in January following two alcohol-related arrests that led to a court appearance and driving ban. Since then, he has also been arrested and cautioned for being drunk and disorderly and arrested again over an alleged assault - a charge he denies.

Despite his tale of woe off the field, Care's form for the Aviva Premiership leaders has propelled him back into the England reckoning with the Daily Mail reporting that coach Stuart Lancaster recently met with the player and is ready to welcome him back into the fold.

Having been overlooked throughout the Six Nations, Care's last appearance in an England shirt came in the Rugby World Cup warm-up clash against Wales last August with a toe injury subsequently ruling him out of the tournament itself. Since then, he has seen Northampton's Lee Dickson emerge as a rival to Leicester's Ben Youngs for the England No.9 shirt.

Lancaster is set to announce an expanded squad of 40 players for the three-Test, five-match tour of South Africa on May 10.
