Harlequins duo Chris Robshaw and Mike Brown are in line for a notable awards double after being named on the shortlist for the Rugby Players' Association's top honour.

The England team-mates are both in the running for the Aviva Premiership Player of the Season award and will now also vie for the RPA's Players' Player of the Year gong. They are joined on the five-man shortlist by Leicester's Steve Mafi, Northampton's George Pisi and Quins' Nick Evans.

Saracens' Owen Farrell and Wasps' Christian Wade may also be celebrating a double success having secured nominations for the RPA's Young Player of the Year award. The two rising stars have also been shortlisted for the Discovery of the Season honour at the Premiership awards. Joining them on the shortlist for the RPA award are Gloucester duo Jonny May and Freddie Burns and Leicester fly-half and current IRB Young Player of the Year George Ford.

RPA chief executive Damian Hopley paid tribute to the nominees and highlighted the strength in depth within the English game. He said: "To be voted the best player in the Aviva Premiership by your peers remains the ultimate domestic honour and I would like to congratulate all players who have made the respected shortlists for The Computacenter Players' Player of the Year and the LV= Young Player of the Year awards.

"After a transformational Six Nations campaign for England, it is very encouraging to see that once again all the nominees for the Young Player Award are English qualified, which bodes well for the 2015 Rugby World Cup."

The winner of both awards will be announced in London on May 23.
