England No.8 Ben Morgan suffered a worrying hamstring injury in the Scarlets' 29-20 RaboDirect PRO12 victory over Cardiff Blues on Saturday night.

The 23-year-old, making his 50th and last appearance for the region ahead of a move to Premiership side Gloucester, limped out of the action after 78 minutes and head coach Nigel Davies warned of a potential muscle tear after the game.

England coach Stuart Lancaster will name a 40-man squad for next month's five-match, three-Test tour of South Africa on Thursday and has already seen back-row forwards Tom Croft and Tom Wood ruled out through injury.

One name tipped to help fill the void is Wasps youngster Joe Launchbury who helped his side secure their Premiership status despite losing to relegation rivals Newcastle on Saturday. The 21-year-old flanker trained with England during the Six Nations and is relishing a return to the mix this summer.

"It's been a strange year for me. I set myself the goal of playing a few games but personally it's gone really well," he said. "Two years ago I was playing semi-pro at Worthing and the last 24 months has been a bit of a whirlwind. To be talked about like that (as a tour contender) is obviously something I'm shocked about but if I get a chance I want to take it with both hands."

England tackle the Barbarians at Twickenham on May 27 ahead of their trip to South Africa where they will tackle the Springboks in Durban (June 9), Johannesburg (June 16) and Port Elizabeth (June 23).
