England have confirmed their three match schedule for this summer's tour to South America.

Stuart Lancaster's men will come face-to-face with Argentina in two Tests on June 8 and 15 and will also play a side selected from the best South America has to offer in Uruguay on June 2.

England last came up against Argentina in 2009, another British & Irish Lions touring year, and played two Tests against the Pumas. They prevailed 37-15 at Old Trafford and then travelled to Salta but fell 24-22.

The tour will give Lancaster a chance to cast his eye over his squad with reports suggesting there will be around seven Englishmen on duty in Australia with the Lions. He will also be without coaches Andy Farrell and Graham Rowntree for the trip to South America as they too will be on Lions duty but he has drafted in Exeter's Rob Baxter and Saracens' Paul Gustard as temporary replacements.

England will confirm their squad for the tour in early May, with the Lions' squad announcement happening on April 30, and will play the Barbarians at Twickenham on May 26 prior to flying out.

Lancaster said: "Argentina is a formidable rugby nation and we're looking forward to facing the Pumas in back-to-back Tests, which a young and developing side will need to be at its very best to win.

Together with matches against the Barbarians at Twickenham and the CONSUR team in Uruguay, the summer programme gives this group a real opportunity to measure their progress and continue to learn what they need to succeed at the highest level."

Summer tour:

June 2: CONSUR XV v England XV (Montevideo, 3.30pm local time, 7.30pm BST)
June 8: Argentina v England (Salta, 4.10pm local time, 8.10pm BST)
June 15: Argentina v England (Velez Sarsfield, Buenos Aires, 4.10pm local time, 8.10pm BST)
