England prop Mako Vunipola will miss Saturday's international against New Zealand because of the knee injury he picked up against Australia. But Saracens forwards coach Alex Sanderson said the injury was less serious than first thought and he should only be out of action for a few weeks.

Vunipola strained his posterior cruciate ligament and there were fears he could miss the remainder of the season.

"It could have been nine months but it will be two or three weeks," Sanderson told theEvening Standard. "He's going really well so we're happy about that, obviously. His mobility is very good, so I hear, but I'm not a physio.

"He's made out of granite, Mako. He's played that much rugby and he never seems to get injured. This is his first one and it's not that serious so you roll with the punches in that respect."
