Bristol coach Sean Holley refused to be drawn on reports linking the Championship side with Welsh No.8 Ryan Jones.

Reports in the Welsh press on Wednesday said Jones had penned a two-year deal with Bristol worth £200,000 annually. But Holley, who coached Jones at the Ospreys, would not comment on the club's move for the hugely experienced back-rower.

"Unfortunately he's in contract so I can't confirm or deny whether the story is true," Holley told the BBC. "I think he's a fantastic player, a great ambassador and he would be a tremendous acquisition for any club."

Bristol have already recruited Bath's Anthony Perenise and Sale's Dwayne Peel ahead of next term and Holley revealed he was a fan of Jones, but they have held discussions with a number of players.

"We've been talking to a lot of players - Welsh, English, Irish, Scottish - and Ryan is a big name," Holley added. "What I will say is I've got a lot of time for Ryan Jones."
