Leicester's director of rugby Richard Cockerill has told the Leicester Mercury he is looking for someone "big and nasty" to replace departing No.8 Thomas Waldrom who has agreed to join Exeter.

"Tom has been here for four years and has been really good for us," Cockerill said. "Sometimes with players, like everything, there comes a natural end and that has probably come with Tommy here. He has decided to go and do something different.

"He's turning 31 soon and has signed a deal on good money. There are three or four months left this season so we will see some of him before then.

"We will be looking for someone who is big and nasty and carries the ball."

Waldrom said: "I'm excited by the move because it's a fresh challenge. I've had four fantastic years at Leicester."
