England saw off Ireland 17-10 at Twickenham on Saturday and consigned the visitors to their first loss since March 2012 in the process.

England crossed for three tries in total with Sarah Hunter, Kay Wilson and Marlie Packer going over as they moved to joint top of the table. Ireland bagged one try through Larissa Muldoon but they could not pin back Gary Street's side.

"Ireland are an excellent team and I thought they defended brilliantly," Street told the BBC. "Some of our rugby was outstanding at times and it was a great game of women's rugby, in front of a great crowd with 15,000 here. We are still building towards the World Cup later this year and that was a really important win."
