London Irish have signed 24-year-old winger James Short from Saracens on a two-year contract.

Short, who is currently on loan to London Wasps, made his debut in 2010 and quickly forged a reputation as a player to watch. He has scored 12 tries in 54 Premiership appearances, one of which was the only try in 2011 Premiership final for Saracens in their victory over Leicester.

"James has a huge amount of Premiership experience for a 24 year-old," said London Irish director of rugby, Brian Smith. "He is extremely talented, a great finisher and an ambitious player who will be a huge asset to our squad."

Short said he felt it was time for him to take on a new challenge. "[London Irish] play a brand of rugby that will really suit my game and with players like Tom Court, Luke Narraway and Tom Guest also joining this summer, the intent of the club looks very ambitious."
