Sale have received a blow following the news Dan Braid will miss the rest of the season after knee surgery.

Braid, who has six caps for the All Blacks, has undergone a minor operation and will miss the Sharks' final two games of the campaign, against Leicester Tigers and London Irish. He has been sidelined since Sale's home victory over Northampton Saints on March 22.

Sale rugby director Steve Diamond hailed his skipper's influence at the club this term, with the Sharks having secured a place in next term's European Rugby Champions Cup.

"His leadership is second to none, he's been fantastic for the club," Diamond told the BBC. "He puts his body on the line time and time again."
