Boudjellal wants to retire No.10 jersey

Toulon supremo Mourad Boudjellal will ask the body in charge of the Top 14 if he can retire the No.10 jersey in Jonny Wilkinson's honour.

The news comes a day after Wilkinson announced his retirement from the game. He has been at Toulon since 2009 and such has been his impact at the club, RMC Sport claims Toulon will hold a jubilee in his honour in July while Boudjellal will approach Ligue Nationale de Rugby asking if they can no longer use the No.10 jersey as a tribute to Wilkinson.

The same website claims Bernard Laporte, Toulon coach, expects Wilkinson to join his backroom staff in time for next season.

Toulon still have two matches left in the season with Saracens up next in the Heineken Cup final and then Castres on May 31 in the finale of the Top 14. Wilkinson is reluctant to talk about his retirement until those matches have played out but he admitted on Monday that it just felt like the right time to end his career.

"I have been thinking about it throughout the year, and now is the right time and right feeling. I also know that I want to get it completely out of the way so that we focus more than ever on these two games. It's a weight off my shoulders, to be honest. It has just been a gut feeling thing, and the gut feeling is loud and pretty true right now."
