Leinster have been handed a boost with Ben Te'o closing in on his return to first-team action.

Te'o, who joined Leinster from the Rabbitohs, fractured his forearm on his debut in October but he is closing in on his return to the field. Leinster skills coach Richie Murphy said of Te'o on score.ie: "He was due to come back around now and he's been seeing a specialist. The specialist has passed him fit to play.

"He's done his return-to-play stuff in relation to our physios, so they feel he's in a position to be available for selection. He's been trying to find his feet. Obviously it was a very difficult sort of situation coming in late and then picking up an injury in his first senior game, it was a bit of a nightmare for him and us.

"He will be a quality player and the more we can get him on the pitch, the better."

Fergus McFadden is close to recovering from a thumb injury while Sean O'Brien and Cian Healy "are both rehabbing and improving every day", according to Murphy.
