Toulon flanker Steffon Armitage has been released from police custody after being detained overnight and questioned over an alleged attack. He will now go to court on February 10 for aggravated violence, according to Reuters.

Toulon earlier issued a statement saying Xavier Chiocci was released on Wednesday night but that English flanker Armitage remains in custody and a decision will be made on his release on Thursday. The exiled Englishman has subsequently been released.

Local radio station France Bleu Toulon reported that the duo were summoned by police on Wednesday after allegedly attacking a 30-year-old man at a party after the Champions Cup victory over Leicester on December 13. The station reports that both players told police they had no memory of the incident.

Toulon's statement says the club are "awaiting the results of the investigation and will, if necessary, place sanctions on the players to preserve the values that are dear to Toulon."

Armitage's agent declined to comment when contacted by ESPNscrum.
