Despite the toing and froing over Quade Cooper's reported move to Toulon, it finally looks like the mercurial playmaker will be playing in the Top 14 next season rather than in Super Rugby.

The Sunday Telegraph reports confirmation of Cooper's move will be released in the next fortnight with him lining up alongside fellow Australians Matt Giteau and Drew Mitchell at the European Champions Cup holders.

Reports of Cooper's move to Toulon broke on April 24 when he was spotted at their win over Leinster and was then pictured next to the club's supremo Mourad Boudjellal in a Toulon jersey. Despite this seeming confirmation of Cooper's move to Europe, the Reds were adamant no deal had been struck and they were still keen on keeping the Wallaby in Brisbane.

Cooper, who is currently sidelined with a fractured scapula, will become yet another high-profile player to leave the Reds. James Horwill has signed for Aviva Premiership side Harlequins ahead of next season while scrum-half Will Genia will play for Stade Francais.

For Cooper, he needs seven more Wallabies caps to qualify for their new policy on overseas players. If he hits the 60-cap total, he will still be eligible to play for Australia despite plying his trade in Europe. His immediate focus will be returning to the field and he is said to be in line for a return against Western Force next weekend.
