England announce Australia tour for June 2016

England will play Australia Down Under over three matches in June 2016 - the first three-game Test series between the sides in their century-old rivalry.

The teams have battled for the Cook Cup since 1899 and will resume proceedings in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney - with AAMI Park, Melbourne hosting its debut Wallabies Test match.

The series opener at the Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, where the British & Irish Lions dramatically triumphed 23-21 in 2013, will be the first England v Australia match at the venue since 2004.

England Head Coach Stuart Lancaster said: "A Test series in Australia is a massive challenge and one to really look forward to.

"We all saw the excitement generated by the three Tests on the British & Irish Lions tour. We haven't toured Australia since 2010 so for most of our squad it will be their first opportunity to play a senior Test there and I'm sure it will be a great series."

Wallabies Head Coach Michael Cheika said: "There is no question England are our greatest rivals from the north and this is guaranteed to be a really hard-fought and physical series.

"It will be a great opportunity for the players to be involved in an historic series but it also gives our fans plenty to look forward to next season."
