Australia second-row Kane Douglas faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines as he requires knee surgery.

Douglas, who has 23 Wallabies caps, was forced off in the Rugby World Cup final after just 15 minutes, and scans have revealed the ex-Leinster second-row has ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament. He was one of eight players to feature in every match for the Wallabies in their journey to the tournament's final.

He will now return to his new side, Queensland Reds, for rehabilitation. He joined the Reds on a three-year deal with after calling a premature end to his time at Leinster in July.
