Eddie Jones says he has not been contacted about the vacant England coaching job and will not welcome an approach by the Rugby Football Union.

The Australian, who guided Japan to a famous victory over South Africa at the recent World Cup, was unveiled as the new Stormers coach on Thursday and insisted his focus was on the Super Rugby franchise.

Jones has been fancied as one of the frontrunners to take the England helm after former head coach Stuart Lancaster stood down following his side's exit of the World Cup at the pool stage.

"There has been no contact and I am committed to the Stormers. I woke up this morning and looked at Table Mountain. I'm very happy to be here," Jones said.

"Western Province is one of the oldest and most prestigious unions in the world, with 125 years of history at this ground. It's a fantastic city and the opportunity to coach the Stormers is wonderful."

Jones steered Japan to their best ever World Cup in England earlier this year, where the Brave Blossoms recorded three victories, including one of the biggest upsets in sporting history against the Springboks.

Lancaster resigned as England coach on Wednesday, after England became the first ever World Cup hosts to fail to make the knockout stages.
