Exeter Chiefs winger Jack Nowell has suffered a knee injury and is another doubt for England as their list of players sidelined grows by the weekend.

Saracens' George Kruis was stretchered off in their defeat to Harlequins and Nowell, who has impressed this season and was part of England's Rugby World Cup squad, was forced off late in Exeter's 19-10 win over Gloucester.

"It's a bit of a twist of his knee," Chiefs coach Ali Hepher said post-match. "Unfortunately he has got twisted between two bodies and had to come off so we will wait and see.

"You don't know with these knee injuries and sometimes the least painful ones can be the longest out. So we will obviously get him assessed in the week."

England currently have seven players sidelined pending the outcome of Nowell and Kruis' injuries. Eddie Jones is set to name his first Elite Player Squad on Wednesday with England kicking off their Six Nations campaign in Scotland on February 6.
