Gallagher blasts Quins

Harlequins chief John Gallagher admitted his side must do better if they are to stake a claim for silverware this season.

Quins secured their Tetley's Bitter Cup quarter-final place at the expense of lowly part-timers Darlington but the 29 8 scoreline hardly flattered the all star skills of the professional outfit.

The former All Black's side now face a daunting trip to Bristol.

"There's not much to say about how we played. We made too many errors and mistakes and Darlington were happy to capitalise on them," said Gallagher.

"We need to file this performance now and move forward. All credit to Darlington, they never looked out of place and the reason we made so many mistakes was because they were so strong."

Gallagher was hoping for one of the two remaining part-time sides in the next round but believes his side are capable of going all the way to Twickenham.

"There were players there today who you could see were not up for the game. I'm hoping we can rise to the big occasions better than we do for matches like this.

"We've had two very physical games already this week and I'm not surprised we looked a bit jaded."
