Grayson happy to get on with the job
May 8, 2000

Northampton match winner Grayson described the moment when he faced the pressure kick to put Saints into their first European final.

"I put the ball down, and I thought this is it for the European Cup final. I just concentrated on the job," he said.

Grayson had been surprisingly left out of the Northampton starting line-up by Saints boss John Steele, who preferred Ali Hepher instead.

"I was enormously disappointed not to be in the team, but you can either cry into your beer or be professional about it and get on with the job to the best of your ability.

"I didn't hide my disappointment at being left out, but I took it on the chin."
