Nicol to miss season opener

Glasgow Caledonians' Andy Nicol is set to miss out on the start of the
Welsh-Scottish League season.

Nicol suffered heavy shin bruising during the Scotland tour to New Zealand and has injured his knee in pre-season training.

The Scotland international had been given three weeks to recover from the injury after the tour and did not travel to Canada with the team to allow further rest.

But the Scotland international appears set to miss out when the Reds open the season at Caerphilly next week.

``I'm getting a bit of grating under the kneecap and a bit of pain. There is also a little locking but nothing serious,'' said Nicol.
